Adoption: It's About Love
Several months ago our family embarked on
our journey through the adoption process. If you would like to learn more about our family contact us at njfamilytime@gmail.com
Dear Friends,
Several months ago when our family embarked on our journey
through the adoption process we were filled with anticipation and
excitement. What we didn’t realize is
the spiritual and personal growth this process would provide. Finding the words to adequately express our
feelings has been difficult. Our son
Matthew, his name meaning "Gift of God" has been an amazing blessing
to us. We believe any child would be
just that to our family, a gift of God.
We also have great faith that Heavenly Father will continue to not only
guide us but also be a comfort and inspiration to the birth parents of the
children that will join our family. We recognize
the great courage and selflessness demonstrated by birth parents. The love you have for your child and your
faith that we can provide a loving home for them may well be the greatest gift
we ever receive in this life.
To understand who we are we want you to know where we come
from. Jason grew up in a small Idaho town with his parents and one sister. The community he grew up in was a close knit
community where you knew everyone and neighbor served neighbor. Jason learned the value of hard work on a
farm and later applied those lessons to become a first generation college
graduate. He continued on to medical
school and has been in practice for several years now.
Nicole is an identical twin who grew up on a 15 acre farm in
Utah in a family of 13 children. She
learned to garden, care for animals, and led a life of work hard, play
hard. A degree in horticulture perfectly
suits her love of nature and desire to beautify the things around her. Nicole finds a great deal of satisfaction in
being a full time mom. She spends her
free time volunteering in the community, doing photography, and remodeling our
home.
We have been married for fourteen years now. Our family has faced great hardship
together. Because we weathered the storm
as a family we have a deeper bond, a greater love, and a greater appreciation
for the joys in life. We know that life
is not always easy and God gave us the gift of family to help us through. We do not live close to most of our extended
family so we have learned that family can be found where ever you are. We have met many wonderful people from all
walks of life and been blessed to be “adopted” into many of their lives.
Our family life revolves around the outdoors. We love to spend time with our animals, go
for walks together, go camping, and spend time in nature. Our home is a home of learning. We spend a lot of time reading together. We use everyday activities as teaching
moments. Matthew has a natural curiosity
and desire to know how things work. He
loves science, art, and music. If you
ask him his favorite thing about school though he would say recess! Matthew loves to play with smaller children
and has a talent for nurturing. He is a
very intelligent, fun loving, compassionate child full of curiosity for
life.
It is said that a picture says a thousand words so please
come learn more about our family: http://njfamilytime.blogspot.com/. Today we still feel the same anticipation and
excitement that we felt as we started this journey but we are filled with an
even greater awe at the love for a child; awe at the love you have for your
child; and awe at the love we feel for a child we have yet to meet. We will forever be changed by the love for a
child.
Love,
Jason, Nicole, and Matthew
